ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Pari

Born in Iran, I left as a child during the 1978 Iranian Revolution to come to the UK. I recently retired after a career in dentistry to pursue my lifelong passions of photography and painting.

My inspiration almost always comes from nature, which draws me in with its varying colour combinations, forms and movements. I combine my two greatest passions, photography and art, to create something that is truly organic and unique. The series I am currently working on has allowed me to combine both disciplines.

I have many favourite artists but I find the works of Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Signac, Anne Palmer and Peter Doig most inspiring.
My passion for photography comes from my father, whose ancient, leather-cased, Rollup Automatic camera remains one of my most treasured memories of both him and my childhood.

He would often take us to fields of flowers for a family portrait or strategically position us against a bright blue sky, using the beautiful cloud formations as a backdrop.
My father had a great eye for colour and composition. Being a surgeon he was meticulous and paid great attention to detail, so we have many wonderful photographs documenting our childhood.

I often continue to use his camera today and always sign my artwork with my maiden name as a tribute to him.
My passion for art comes from my mother, who has been my greatest teacher, supporter and champion.

She always encourages me to pay attention to my creative side and make time for it.

She is my constant companion at art exhibitions and my partner in crime when gushing over a wild flower, the colour of leaves on a tree, the shape of pebbles on a beach and basically all things natural.

My current project is partly aimed to reawaken the inner child within us all who has the ability to imagine more than there is and my mother has always been the spark for keeping my inner child awake and active.

I hope that you enjoy my work and that it lightens your day, just as it did mine whilst I was creating it.
